Canberra has biggest house price rise in Australia

The latest ABS stats reveal Canberra house prices are rising faster than other capital cities with a 3.4% price rise in the December quarter. For the 2020 year, Canberra recorded the second highest growth in house prices at 5.2%, coming in just behind Hobart that had the highest growth for the year at 6.4%. Canberra is punching well above it’s weight in regards to the national averages of 3.6% growth for the 2020 year and 3% for the December quarter.

Ruby cooking demonstration event

Ruby apartment buyers were treated to a night out in the newly furnished Ruby Penthouse recently. Chef Alan Myburgh demonstrated how to get the most out of the very popular AEG dual ovens and induction cooktop that are included in the Ruby apartments. Today concrete was poured to the Podium level at Ruby. This is a major construction milestone, as from now on you will start to see two distinct towers rising from the podium level.

Defence Housing to relocate to Gungahlin

Great news for the Gungahlin region in the past week with the federal government announcing that it will be relocating Defence Housing Australia (DHA) to the Gungahlin Town Centre. DHA has approximately 300 employees which will be a welcome boost for the local economy. A location for the office is yet to be decided.

Tilt panels go up at Ruby

This week, the first of the ground floor tilt panels are being installed. These are pre-fabricated panels with cut outs for the windows and doors.

Light rail update

A big milestone for the Canberra City to Gungahlin light rail project has been reached – the first rail tracks have now been laid on Flemington Road.

Test tracks were initially laid at the intersection of Nullarbor Ave and Flemington Road, and once they were given the tick of approval, the construction team could begin the large scale install of the remaining rails.

In addition to this, the main street of the Gungahlin Town Centre, Hibberson Street, is in the process of being transformed from a busy two-way shopping strip into a car-free light rail precinct. Keep up to date with the Canberra Metro Light Rail project by clicking here.
